Our Mission,
Values & Team

Our Mission

Mountain Mediation brings people together to prevent conflict, resolve disputes, and improve communication for a more inclusive community.

We envision a community where people have the skills and support to navigate conflict constructively, where everyone has access to peaceful dispute resolution, and where restorative practices replace punitive approaches.

Our Vision

Mountain Mediation aims to foster a compassionate community in which people with differing viewpoints listen to each other with understanding and mutual respect. Active individual participation is key to promoting vibrant communities. By supporting people in addressing conflicts and challenges in their own lives, we help increase their capacity to more effectively engage in broader civic life.

A long history serving the Wasatch Back, with a focus on Summit & Wasatch Counties.

Mountain Mediation has been serving Summit and Wasatch Counties since 2005. For over 20 years, we’ve helped hundreds of families, neighbors, and community members resolve conflicts peacefully.

Initially created to support small claims court litigants in Summit County, over the past two decades, Mountain Mediation has expanded to also offer comprehensive mediation, communication training programs, landlord/tenant education and eviction prevention across our region.

About Our Mediators

Mountain Mediation is committed to providing high quality, professional mediation services.

Court and Community Mediators

All Mountain Mediation mediators are qualified on the Utah State Court Roster of Mediators. As a training organization, from time to time, a mediator in training from our Practicum Program may observe or co-mediate in our court and community mediation sessions.

Family and Divorce Mediators

Our family and divorce mediator team is comprised of four top-notch domestic mediators who combine 50+ years of experience in family law and mediation. They are each qualified on the Utah State Court Domestic Roster and are part of our Family Mediation Pilot Program to ensure underserved and modest means populations in our communities have access to affordable and effective dispute resolution options.

Mediators in Training

As part of our commitment to strengthening mediation services in Utah, Mountain Mediation offers a Practicum Program to help individuals get on the Utah State Court Roster of Mediators. As such, we provide opportunities for Mediators in Training to observe and co-mediate in our court and community mediation sessions. Mediators in Training will be identified as such and always act under the guidance of an experienced Mountain Mediation mediator. A Mediator in Training may also observe, but never co-mediate a family or divorce mediation.

  • Accessibility
We believe everyone deserves access to conflict resolution services, regardless of financial means. We offer reduced fees and free services to ensure no one is turned away.

  • Confidentiality
We create safe spaces where people can speak openly, knowing their conversations are confidential.

  • Empowerment
We help people find their own solutions rather than imposing decisions on them.

  • Neutrality
Our mediators, facilitators, and trainers don’t take sides. We facilitate dialogue without judgment.

  • Restoration
We focus on repairing harm and restoring relationships rather than punishment.

  • Community
We believe strong communities are built through dialogue, understanding, and constructive conflict resolution.
